Finding your tongue height level
Finding the correct breast shield size (or in our case, the correct tongue level height) is extremely important. It can actually “make or break” your entire breast pumping (and sometimes even breastfeeding) experience.
There are several ways to check your fit, here are some of them:
- The simplest one – Visual Check:
Look at your nipple in the breast shield and try to answer these simple questions:
- Is my nipple moving freely?
- Is my areola being held back by the breast shield (and is not being pulled in)?
- Is my pumping experience pleasant?
If you answered yes for all three questions, you’re good to go!
If not, keep reading for a few simple tips that can fix everything!
If your breast shield is too big, it will look something like this:
A higher tongue level might fix your problem – simply adjust the tongue level until you get a good fit
